Ukrainians are waiting for high fines: what shops and sellers will be punished for

In Ukraine, changes have been made to the definition of “tobacco products”, now this concept also applies to devices for heating tobacco (for example, GLO and IQOS). These devices will be subject to all legal prohibitions along with traditional tobacco products.

This is stated in the text of the law 1978-IX.

It is these norms that came into force on July 1, 2022, in particular:

  • sale to persons under 18 years of age is prohibited. Penalty for violation 6800 UAH for the store and from 6800 to 13600 UAH for the seller;
  • any advertising, sponsorship or promotion is prohibited. For violation, a fine for business entities from 30 to 50 thousand UAH for every piece of advertising.

Medical warnings are also being introduced on packs of cigarettes for heating, as well as others for tobacco products.

Fines up to UAH 5100 for pet owners

In recent years, Ukraine has strengthened the responsibility for animal owners and provided for many changes that protect animals from cruelty. Now it is forbidden to beg with four-legged animals, use them for photos with tourists and much more.

The legislation stipulates that dogs must be walked in specially designated areas. If the animal walks outside such territory, the owner faces a fine. from 170 to 340 hryvnia. If the violation is repeated – up to 510 hryvnia.

Excrement after walking dogs often became the subject of disputes between citizens. Now this issue has been settled by law: whoever takes care of the dog and walks it must clean up the feces after it. Penalty for violation from 170 to 340 hryvniaup to 510 UAH – for a repetition of the situation.

If the animal caused damage to property or attacked another person, the owner will also be liable under the law. There is a penalty for this from 3400 to 5100 UAH with the confiscation of the animal.
