Ukrainians who traveled abroad faced huge commissions for conversion and cash withdrawals. And in some cases, banks block 10% of the amount due to the difference in rates.

This is told by the specialized website “Minfin”, referring to customer complaints.

A client of Oschadbank wrote that last month she withdrew 500 euros from an ATM and a commission was 466 UAHand recently for surgery took 1999 UAH.

Representatives of the bank said that cash withdrawals from an ATM of a foreign bank are charged in the amount of 1.5% + UAH 35 (plus 1% commission for currency conversion).

“10% of the transaction amount can be blocked in case of currency fluctuations. Thus, the bank prevents the occurrence of an unauthorized overdraft. After the transaction is processed, this amount will be released automatically (within 1-3 days),” Oschadbank explained.

Clients of Vostok Bank faced a similar situation. The man wrote that he pays his family abroad for housing on Booking and at one moment from it took 10% commission for payment.

“I am writing to support and at the same time I am starting to look for their tariffs myself. It turns out that the bank introduced such a commission from 06/03/22,” he complains.

Two banks may leave Ukraine
