(ANSA) – MILAN, AUGUST 29 – Saipem and Quantafuel Asa have signed a memorandum of understanding to collaborate in the industrialization and construction of chemical recycling plants for plastic waste. The latter – reads a note – will be based on the design and process technology developed by Quantafuel.
The agreement – they explain to San Donato Milanese – allows Saipem to “market and build industrial pyrolysis plants globally with the license of Quantafuel technology”.
Pyrolysis is a thermochemical process capable of converting solid plastic waste into liquid or gaseous products, which can be reused as fuel or chemical materials for the recycling of plastic materials. Saipem will also provide ‘intelligent’ (smart) management and maintenance services, as well as guarantees on plant performance, issued jointly by both companies.
Under the agreement, “scalable and modular solutions for plastic waste recycling plants will be developed, which will be easily adapted to the specificities of the various sites”.
“The technological solution offered – explains Saipem – will allow users to increase the use of mixed plastic waste in the production of pyrolysis oil, which can be reused in the production of new chemical and plastic products”. (HANDLE).
