Ukrainians are interested in issues related to pension payments. Some people who have lost a breadwinner, whose pension payments were higher, are interested in whether they can transfer to the pension of a deceased relative.
Is it possible that an independent consultant Sergey Korobkin explained to “Retired”?
The man, who receives a pension of 2670 hryvnias, asks if he can transfer to his pension after the death of his disabled war father. It turned out that the law outlines the circle of persons entitled to a pension in connection with the loss of a breadwinner.
The expert explained that the following are entitled to such a pension:
- children of the deceased breadwinner under the age of 18;
- children over this age, if they became persons with disabilities before reaching the age of 18;
- in certain cases, it may be the wife of the deceased or his parents.
Thus, if a person is not included in the list, then he cannot receive the pension of a deceased relative, even if it was higher. Such people are not eligible for survivor benefits.
But, according to Korobkin, under a number of certain conditions, it is possible to claim a supplement to the pension as a member of the family of a deceased war invalid, which is provided for by the Law of Ukraine “On the status of war veterans, guarantees of their social protection.”
Additional payments in the fall
In Ukraine, from October 1, 2021, for pensioners aged 75 to 80, the minimum pension was set at UAH 2,500. They receive additional payments in the amount of UAH 400.
The next pension increase is expected from December 1:
- for pensioners over the age of 65 with 35 years of experience for men and 30 years for women, the minimum pension will increase – it will be 2600 UAH;
- for all categories of pensioners, the level of the minimum pension will be increased by 4.34% (from UAH 1854 to UAH 1934).
Over a year and a half, from January 2020 to August 2021, the average pension in Ukraine increased by a quarter and now stands at UAH 3,866.84.
Recall that the retirement age of women who retire by old age on a general basis has become equal to the retirement age of men from April 1, 2021.
