Sanctions left AvtoVAZ without details: factories in Russia will go on early leave

AvtoVAZ, the leader of the Russian automotive industry, announced the postponement of its annual summer vacation to spring. In fact, AvtoVAZ is forced to hastily go into downtime due to a lack of parts.

Reuters writes about it. “In the spring of 2023, a number of spare parts suppliers informed AvtoVAZ about the termination of supplies and terminated existing agreements to support supplies in 2023,” the Russian company said.

The downtime is scheduled to begin in May and last for three weeks. Prior to this, it was assumed that AvtoVAZ’s vacation would start only on July 24th.

At the same time, the company stressed that they are working on “creating new logistics corridors” to replace Western supplies of spare parts. We are talking about 200 types of automotive parts.

The agency notes that the largest Russian car manufacturer has been hit hard by the sanctions. Factories in the Russian Federation were maximally dependent on Western investments and spare parts, and the world’s auto industry giants no longer want to cooperate with the aggressor country.

Not only AvtoVAZ, but the entire Russian auto industry suffers from problems of this kind. In 2022, factories throughout the Russian Federation produced only 450 thousand cars. This is a small figure since the collapse of the USSR.

As GLOBAL HAPPENINGS reported, earlier AvtoVAZ also faced a shortage of paint. Therefore, the lineup of Lada and Niva was limited to only three colors.
