Benefits for pregnant women will be charged in a new way: who can apply for maternity online

In Ukraine, from now on, the procedure for obtaining maternity benefits for women in labor who are not officially employed has been changed.

This is stated in the corresponding resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers adopted on Wednesday, November 3.

It is noted that the changes are associated with the country’s transition to electronic sick leave, and the document itself was developed by the Ministry of Social Policy.

What changed?

Now you can assign maternity benefits through the online portal “Diya”, by the number of the electronic sick leave.

That is, you no longer need to draw up a paper sick leave to receive the so-called maternity money. Sometimes this will have to be done due to the technical inability of some medical institutions to form an electronic sick leave.

Who are the changes affecting?

The possibility of electronic registration of maternity leave will be given to women in labor who are not insured in the system of compulsory state social insurance:

• women who are not officially employed;
• women who are registered at the employment center as unemployed;
• women – individual entrepreneurs (IE) who do not pay a single social contribution;
• female students, aspirants, doctoral students;
• military personnel.

Electronic sick leave in Ukraine

Since October 1, 2021, the entire country has switched to the electronic sick leave system. Now the certificate of incapacity for work is drawn up as follows:

• A sick person visits a doctor and he makes a medical record;
• An SMS is sent to the patient’s phone about the opening of an electronic hospital;
• After that, the information is received by the Pension Fund and the patient receives another SMS;
• The employer will also see the information through the Pension Fund, so there is no need to take the certificate of incapacity for work to work;
• The sick leave is closed electronically.
