The Russian company Gazprom does not yet plan to increase the volume of gas supplies to the European Union, at least until the second quarter of 2022.

This was announced by the General Director of the “Operator GTS” of Ukraine Serhiy Makogon on his Facebook page.

According to Makogon, this is evidenced by the results of the capacity distribution auctions.

“Gazprom does not plan to increase gas supplies to the EU either in December or in the first quarter of 2022. The maximum amount planned for transit is 109 million per day (40 billion cubic meters per year),” wrote the head of the GTS Operator.

Makogon stressed that all of Gazprom’s loud statements about increasing supplies to the EU have not yet been backed up by real action.

The Director General also said that Ukraine is ready at the moment to ensure the transit of additional volumes of gas to the EU.

“Even without the launch of Nord Stream 2, Ukraine is ready to ensure the transit of significant additional volumes of gas to the EU. Let me remind you that 2 years ago, transit amounted to 277 million m3 per day, or 2.7 times more than at the moment,” in the post.

Gas prices in Europe

On November 16, Germany temporarily suspended the certification process for Nord Stream 2, as the German regulator believes that the operator must have an organizational form that complies with the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany.

Due to the halt, gas prices in Europe jumped sharply and exceeded $ 1,000.

At the same time, Gazprom shares plunged 2% in a matter of hours.

The head of the Naftogaz company, Yuri Vitrenko, called such steps by Gazprom legal tricks and a mockery of European rules.
