It won’t be cheaper until the New Year: vegetables have risen in price again in Ukraine

Cucumber prices skyrocketed in Ukraine’s largest wholesale farmer market “Nezhdana”

Vegetables rose in price for buyers at the market – only cucumbers increased in price by 22% due to a decrease in offers from farmers.

At the largest in Ukraine farmer’s wholesale market “Nezhdana” in the village of Bolshiye Kopani in the Kherson region cucumber already costs 50-60 UAH / kg, although the day before it cost 35-55 UAH / kg. And on the wholesale market “Beginning” in Odessa, it costs 55-58 UAH / kg.

Zucchini, too, have risen in price. They are now asking for 35-40 UAH / kg. Nevertheless, tomatoes, are still cheap, moreover, they have dropped to a five-year low. Now round red, pink and yellow cost 15-20 UAH / kg, and black – 20-25 UAH / kg.

Eggplant on the market they sell at 15-70 UAH / kg, red cone-shaped pepper – 25 UAH / kg, and red cuboid – 30-40 UAH / kg.

Potato costs 5-7 UAH / kg, beet – 6-10 UAH / kg, carrot – 5-7 UAH / kg, onion – 8-9 UAH / kg.

The markets still offer a wide range of cabbage… She is standing:

  • young cabbage – 9-10 UAH / kg;
  • redhead – 11 UAH / kg;
  • color – 8 UAH / kg;
  • Beijing – 8 UAH / kg;
  • broccoli – 20 UAH / kg;
  • Savoyard – 10 UAH / kg;
  • Brussels – 40-60 UAH / kg;
  • Romanesco – 30 UAH / kg;
  • kohlrabi – 15 UAH / kg.

Pumpkin Ukrainians are sold at UAH 3 / kg, garlic – 50-70 UAH / kg, apples – 6-8 UAH / kg, pears – 15-30 UAH / kg, a grape – 25-40 UAH / kg.

What about the prices for tomatoes?

Tomatoes have fallen in price at a record price on the market – their price has dropped to a 5-year minimum. If at the beginning of December, last years, they cost 23-29 UAH / kg, then at the moment – 15-20 UAH / kg.

Experts explain that in the markets the demand for vegetables exceeds the supply, and this year the tomato season started a little later.

The import of vegetables has also increased and domestic producers do not raise the high price. And the demand has also decreased, because the conservation season has already ended.

Earlier we reported that by the New Year for Ukrainians the New Year’s table will rise in price by 20%. The expert predicts a rise in prices for tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers.
