Cars: Csp, 2022 still difficult, 1.5 million registrations

Ex Embraco, Ficco:

(ANSA) – TURIN, 15 DEC – In 2021 car registrations in Italy will reach 1,460,000 with a decrease of 23.8% on 2019 and a very modest growth on 2020 (5.7%). Things will not improve even in 2022 which promises to be ‘third year of passion’ with 1,500,000 registrations. This was explained by Gian Primo Quagliano, president of the Centro Studi Promotor, in the annual conference that was held in Bologna.

The causes of the low volume of car sales forecast by the SPC for 2022 are in part the same that affected the result of 2021, namely the pandemic, the weakness of the economic framework (even if recovering), insufficient support for demand. state incentives and the microchip crisis. The situation remains critical: in the three-year period 2020-2022 4,341,646 cars will be registered, while to avoid further aging of the fleet it would be necessary to register 6 million. The Csp asks the Government to immediately launch a three-year plan for the scrapping of a car over ten years old and the purchase of a Euro 6D, with significant incentives and with the obligation of the seller to double them.

It is also necessary – explained Quagliano – a three-year plan for the purchase of electric cars with or without scrapping and to provide for an organic plan for the transition to electricity with support for recharging points, regulatory adaptation to facilitate their installation, correct information to users.

“The pandemic is not over yet, the state of suffering continues. Even the microchip crisis is a threat to recovery. All together, however, we will be able to restart the market”, said Luca Patanè, president of the Uvet Group, in which the CSP is entered in 2020. (ANSA).
