Usually, the demand for Christmas trees increases closer to the holiday. Therefore, those who wanted to save significantly bought them back in October, when the average check was only UAH 270, at the moment it is 1200 UAH, and soon there will be more.

To save money, they say, Ukrainians often buy from hands.

In general, according to expert research, the demand for artificial spruces and pines increased by 16% compared to last year, and the average cost increased by 50% – 650 UAH by order.

The peak of shopping starts in mid-November and lasts until the end of December. If in October of this year the average check in the category was 270 грн, then in November the amount increased up to 700 UAH, and in December up to 1200 UAH

“Buying a Christmas tree or garlands in the secondary market can save up to 30% of the cost of a new one. Besides, after the New Year holidays, you don’t have to think about how to dispose of it. It is enough to disassemble and compose a holiday symbol until next year,” says Bogdan Borodin, head of marketing.

Ukrainians also began to order more gifts and souvenirs (the number of orders increased by 20%). Garlands, Santa Clauses of the times of the USSR, as well as cargo Christmas tree decorations are popular among the New Year’s decor. On average, one toy will cost 350 UAH, which is 16% more than last year.

What else do Ukrainians spend before the New Year?

According to the largest marketplace in the country Prom.ua, the demand for holiday lighting has grown by 76% compared to December 2020, for decor – for 47%, and for toys – on 35%.

Ukrainians spend on:

  • garlands and LED strips – on average 510 UAH;
  • decor, the leaders are artificial Christmas trees. They spend on them 1320 UAH, which is 19% more than in the past;
  • Christmas toys. Average check 450 грн … This is 22% more than in December 2020;
  • childen’s goods. The demand for them has grown by 45%. For gifts for children, they choose a Lalafanfan soft toy, sketch markers, magnetic constructors, sleds and drawing kits. Average check 640 UAH;
  • Christmas costumes. The most popular are Bunny and Santa Claus. Spend on them on average 520 грн.

On gifts to women, they spend about 320 UAH to 670 UAH. They usually buy dresses, pajamas, illuminated mirrors, hairdryers and hair curlers, as well as cosmetics and perfumes.

Men, on the other hand, are presented with technology, choosing wireless headphones, smart watches and portable speakers. Spend on average 820 грн.
