(ANSA) – MILAN, DECEMBER 28 – Terna recorded consumption up by 3.8% on an annual basis and by 0.3% on a monthly basis last November. The national demand rose to 26.4 billion kWh, with an increase in energy demand of 5.6% from the beginning of the year compared to the same figure in 2020. A result achieved, according to the national electricity network operator, thanks also to the “strongly positive performance of the industry”, with an increase of 2.9% in the Imcei index, driven in particular by the steel, mechanical and food sectors.
An overall increase under almost equal conditions, given that the month of November had 21 working days like that of October, while the average monthly temperature was approximately 0.3 degrees Celsius higher than the analogous data of 2020. In this way electricity demand, seasonally adjusted and corrected by calendar and temperature effects, grew by 3.5%.
On a territorial level, the trend change in November was positive everywhere: + 3.3% in the North, + 4.5% in the Center and + 4.4% in the South.
In November, about 93% of the electricity demand in Italy was met with national production and the remaining part (7%) with the balance of energy exchanged with foreign countries. (HANDLE).
