(ANSA) – VENICE, 19 JAN – Promoting and disseminating knowledge of the MoSE system among university students is the goal of an educational project that involves the study of the largest Italian engineering work, built to defend the city of Venice and the territory lagoon from the phenomenon of high water.

This is foreseen by a memorandum of understanding signed today by the Ministry of Sustainable Infrastructures and Mobility, by the Extraordinary Commissioner for the MoSE, by the Liquidator Commissioner of the Venezia Nuova Consortium, by the Ca ‘Foscari and Iuav Universities of Venice. It is thus intended to start a collaboration to increase awareness of the problems connected to the protection of the environment and the fragile ecosystems of the area and to the fight against the climate crisis, identifying an innovative training strategy that can positively affect the sustainable development of the planet. The start-up program of the work will include research projects shared with universities, aimed at assessing the impacts on the lagoon and its ecosystem.

“This is an innovative project for the knowledge of a high-tech engineering system unique in the world – underlines Minister Enrico Giovannini – which will allow the younger generations to be involved in a work that concerns many interconnected aspects, including technological innovation. at the service of safeguarding the marine and terrestrial, cultural and landscape ecosystems as well as the social ones of the communities living in the Venice lagoon. The training program is part of a broader campaign aimed at enhancing an Italian engineering work unique in the world, which has already demonstrated its effectiveness – he concludes – to safeguard a world cultural and natural heritage such as Venice and its lagoon “.
