“Ukraine will be the glory of the peoples,” wrote Taras Shevchenko, and, as always, he was right! Today our flag is the most recognizable in the world, and this is just the beginning! The Ukrainian flag NFT has acquired a pool of donors for 2,250 ETH ($6.75 million), according to CNN.

The blue and yellow flag was auctioned off by the public organization Ukraine DAO, co-founded on February 24 by a member of the Russian activist group and feminist punk band Pussy Riot. The proceeds will go to the “Turn Back Alive” fund, which will distribute food, medicines and provide other needs for the Ukrainian military, as well as the civilian population.

Washington Post called Russia’s invasion of Ukraine “the world’s first crypto war”. The fundraiser came to full fruition just days after the Ukrainian government announced via Twitter that it was now accepting donations in cryptocurrencies. Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov also called on the world community to make online donations and block Russian users on the cryptocurrency exchange.

It is known that today the country has already collected about $40 million in cryptocurrency donations, of which more than $7 million in the form of NFTs.

Crypto activists have their own reasons to help our country fight the invaders. The first is that according to Chainalysis blockchain, Ukraine is the largest European and the fourth largest cryptocurrency user in the world. The second is that Russia has long secured the status of a terrorist in the crypto industry.
