The Russian festival Song of the Year is coming to an end, and here’s why

The Russian Federation continues to pay for the atrocities and crimes committed by rashist soldiers on the territory of Ukraine for more than three months. The other day McDonald’s finally decided to stop its activities in the aggressor country. But this is not the end. Now they are talking about the threats of disruption of “Song of the Year”.

As music critic Pavel Rudchenko explained in an interview with Russian media, over the past few years, Ukrainian showbiz stars have actively participated in the event: Sofia Rotaru, Valery Meladze, Vera Brezhneva, Ivan Dorn and others.

But, according to the critic, after these artists voiced their anti-war position and condemned the bloody actions of the Kremlin, they became “unwanted guests” in Russia.

He added that recently “Song of the Year” rested on Ukrainian artists. And so now, after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, there is no one to speak at the event. To this we can only add: “Oh, how uncomfortable it turned out!”. Now listen only to your Kolya Baskov and Philip Kirkorov, who cannot come up with anything new.

I don’t even understand if this festival will be this year. Usually the recording of “Song of the Year” takes place in December. If, God forbid, the “special operation” (that is, WAR, – Ed.) is over by this time, then there will certainly be a festival, if not, then the holding of the festival is in question, – explained the host of the festival Lera Kudryavtseva.

By the way, Kudryavtseva and Sergey Lazarev, who first spoke out against the war in Ukraine, and then tried to “change shoes” and side with Putin’s Russia, were almost invariable hosts of “Song of the Year”, but nothing came of it.

Rudchenko says that now Lazarev is not happy to see him at the event, so, probably, the artist will be replaced by … Alexander Revva, who still has not been able to squeeze out a word about the war.
