This Tuesday at 5.30 p.m., Governing Mayor Franziska Giffey will open the photo exhibition “Kyiv is the Unbreakable Heart of Europe” together with Wladimir Klitschko, the brother of the mayor of Kyiv. Giffey also gives a greeting, as the Senate Chancellery reports.
The exhibition runs in cooperation with the city of Kyiv and is a sign of Berlin’s connection and solidarity with the citizens of the Ukrainian capital. Ukrainian photographers show the everyday life of courageous people in Kyiv who have retained their confidence and dignity despite the suffering and devastation of war. Basketball in the remains of a gymnasium, a musician in front of barricades, the paused look at a destroyed normality. The photographs are intended to remind people of what the news often doesn’t show: It’s always about human destinies.
The exhibition can be seen in the Rotes Rathaus until January 3, 2023, Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is free. tsp
