I Black Country, New Road al debutto in Italia

(ANSA) – BOLOGNA, 30 OCT – Defined as the next big thing on the Anglo-Irish scene, Black Country, New Road arrive at the Teatro Duse in Bologna as part of the Express Festival organized by the Locomotiv Club. The young English band led by Isaac Wood will perform in Italy for the first time on November 1 at 9.30pm, after summer events in Bologna, Milan and Turin were canceled due to pandemic restrictions.

The ensemble is made up of seven elements – voice, two guitars, bass, keyboard, violin, sax and drums – and fits on the more intellectual side of the thriving post-punk scene across the Channel, which in recent years has already seen bands explode. like Fontaines DC and Idles. Compared to the latter, Wood and associates offer more reflective atmospheres, which flirt with both jazz and the emo of the 90s, first of all the Slint.

The album For The First Time was released in February 2021 via Ninja Tune, garnering flattering reviews in prestigious publications such as The New York Times and The Guardian, and running for a strong presence in the end-of-year quality charts. But the band had already made itself known in 2019, the year of release of the first two singles Athen’s, France and Sunglasses, with a series of explosive live performances at The Windmill pub in Brixton, London, together with bands such as Squid and black midi.

The prestigious endorsements received by Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth and Ed O’Brien of Radiohead did the rest, leading the band to perform in important festivals such as the Spring in Barcelona and Glastonbury in the town of the same name near Bristol. The band will propose to the Bolognese public, in addition to the pieces of the first album, also the new single recently released, also on Ninja Tune, Chaos Space Marine, again in perfect balance between an explosive punk energy and a very refined sound research.
