A few seconds after Alec Baldwin shot cameraman Galina Hutchins, she staggered back and practically fell – she was picked up by the chief electrician on the set, and blood gushed from Galina’s chest.

Before losing consciousness, Galina said:

This is not good. This is not good at all.

At the same moment, director Joel Sousa, who had been hit by the same bullet as Hutchins, fell to the ground and shouted: “What the hell was that? It burns!”

The final words of 42-year-old Hutchins, who worked as a director of photography for Alec Baldwin’s western, are reported by the Los Angeles Times, citing comments from members of the crew.

Tragedy happened during rehearsal

Previously, director Joel Sauza said that the accident happened while the team was rehearsing a scene… Sauza and Galina Hutchins sat behind the camera and chose the best angle for filming the episode, when Alec Baldwin was practicing using weapons.

A live bullet fired from the barrel of a firearm, which the actor was told was a “melee weapon” (this is a production term meaning that the weapon does not contain live ammunition and is safe for rehearsals – ed.), But two were injured as a result.

A day after the tragedy, Alec Baldwin made the first statement in which he said that he was cooperating with the police. The actor also contacted the husband and son of the deceased Galina Hutchins.
