Creative Brandenburg: Singer-songwriters wanted

After the great success of the past year, the Brandenburg Summer Concerts are again organizing the search for the most talented singer-songwriters in the state together with the cultural state of Brandenburg in 2023. The great response to the first call for the competition surprised him positively, says Christian Müller-Lorenz from “Kulturland”. And Wolfram Korr, director of the Brandenburg Summer Concerts, adds: “From schoolgirls who taught themselves how to play the guitar, to theater actors to experienced, sixty-year-old band musicians, everything was there – a whole new cosmos of music creation and creativity is happening in Brandenburg up here.”

The 2022 winner was Katharina Förster, who calls herself Chimana as an artist and grew up in Bad Freienwalde. Winning the competition gave her a good click for the release of her debut album last summer.

Up to April 16, 2022, single performers and duos can now apply with their self-written songs at the e-mail address info@brandenburgische-sommerkonzerte.org. A jury of experts will then decide who will be allowed to present themselves at the live audition on May 13 in Potsdam in the House of Brandenburg-Prussian History. The audition will be streamed online, and viewers will vote online to decide which singer-songwriters are among the best in Brandenburg. They will perform at the final concert in June 2023 on the grounds of the Potsdam Biosphere.

There are no specifications for the music style and the musical instruments in the competition. “The main thing,” emphasize the organizers, “everything is played and sung live.” Fredrik Hanssen
