Meli talks about a journey through the operas of ‘his’ Verdi, from those of the so-called years in prison to the last, outlining a path through the vocality of the composer from Busseto who asked the interpreter “ not rhetoric, but deep digging into the character ”. In this sense, as the musicologist Giovanni Vitali highlights in the liner notes, Meli tackles the myth of the tenor ” who, due to timbre, color, range, volume and weight of the voice, is considered suitable for interpreting the tenor characters of the composer’s works. ”.
