Tv: Tiziano Ferro, with ‘Drag race Italia’ a dream comes true

(ANSA) – MILAN, 12 NOV – The program has not yet started and already has an exceptional fan, Tiziano Ferro, who sent a video message to the participants in the first edition of ‘Drag race Italia’, the talent show in which eight drag queens compete with each other with spectacular performances to win the title of “Italy’s First Drag Superstar”.

“I am the greatest Drag Race expert in the world” says Ferro in the video message for the launch of the program, which will start next November 19th on the Discovery + platform.

“You are making my dream come true: I love drag art! Anyone who approaches drag art as a professional choice in our country – underlines Tiziano – has all my respect and my love”. The format, made internationally famous by RuPaul, in Italy sees the drag queen Priscilla, the actress Chiara Francini and the influencer Tommaso Zorzi as judges. After twelve editions around the world and the conquest of 24 Emmy Awards, the talent arrives in Italy with 6 episodes of 75 minutes. In each one, the eight drag queens, from all over Italy, compete in “challenges” based on the principle-claim of the program “Being drag is an art”, that is the ability to highlight the uniqueness of a human being through the process transformation, canceling the concept of binary sexuality.

Among the eight Drag Queens competing – selected from 1000 aspirants – Ava Hangar, 36 years old from Carbonia, who defines herself as “a reassuring drag, a wild boob who doesn’t scare people”; Enorma Jean, 46 years old from Milan, whose characterization is combined with that of a slightly snobbish Milanese ‘sciura’. The winner will become MAC Cosmetics ambassador for one year and will sign a limited edition collection.

In the first episode, the competitors will compete in a classic: the photo shoot, set in Venice. Then they will be called to face the first ‘Maxi-Challenge’: to create an Italian Style dress to surprise both the judges and the first judge, Cristina d’Avena, on the catwalk.
