Thrill at 400 meters, in New York is City Climb mania

(by Gina Di Meo) (ANSA) – NEW YORK, NOV 16 – First an adrenaline rush, then the bated breath, finally the amazement. New York, the city that never disappoints, has pulled out of its hat the best gift for residents and visitors, the view from an unparalleled vantage point. No walls, no windows, no protective barriers, just the skyline. The gift is a spell called City Climb, the new attraction that, symbolically, opened on the day the United States dropped non-essential travel restrictions after closing in March 2020 due to the pandemic.

City Climb is not just an attraction, it is a real adventure. It is no coincidence that climbing on the outer wall of a tallest building in the world is defined. An experience that takes place almost 400 meters high when you go beyond The Edge, the tallest open-air observatory in the western hemisphere located at the top of the 30 Hudson Yards building, in the homonymous residential and commercial complex along the Hudson River.

The climb starts from The Edge and the adventurous, after being specially harnessed and instructed on some safety measures, climb an outdoor staircase until they reach a point that is called, not surprisingly, Apex (apex). From this small terrace, as in an act of faith in the tightness of the harnesses, one leans into the void and at that point the heart stops for the breathtaking perspective without any obstacle in front of it.

Looking south, the eye falls on One World Trade Center, beyond the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building seems very close to the east, while New Jersey is clearly visible to the west. Beyond these most famous landmarks, the Big Apple appears like an endless carpet. “City Climb – Anissa Barbato, manager of the attraction explained to ANSA – is something exciting, engaging, intoxicating. It is something that pushes you to go beyond your limits, at the same time it makes you gain confidence in yourself to get you on top of the world “.

Barbato stressed that the attraction is also an Italian creature, because the path of about 150 meters leading to the Apex was designed and built by Cimolai Technology, a Venetian company part of the Cimolai Group. The path, completely in stainless steel, is the result of a sequence of rail segments, placed side by side, with straight, inclined and curved sections. City Climb, which has already sold out for the next few days, will also be open with rain or snow and with a temperature not lower than -5 degrees centigrade. (HANDLE).
