The juries of the 60th Grimme Prize have made their decision. A total of fourteen Grimme Prizes and three special prizes will be awarded on April 26, 2024 in the Marler Theater for the anniversary prize year.
The Grimme Awards are the most important award for TV productions in Germany. The special thing this year: The private broadcasters are left empty-handed this time. In the past 20 years, this has only happened in 2011 and 2015.
For this, Disney+ receives one of the coveted awards with “Sam – a Saxon”. According to the jury, “the first major Afro-German series that was so long overdue”.
Another special feature this year. In the information and culture category, many award winners deal with topics related to war and terror. A detailed evaluation of this year’s awards will follow shortly.
The Grimme Prize is awarded in four categories. There are also three special prizes. A total of 17 productions and performances will be honored – 64 of which were nominated. The award ceremony will take place on April 26th in Marl. The award has been presented annually since 1964. The prize sponsor is the German Adult Education Association (DVV). (with dpa)
