Exhibitions, in Prato Hi Woman!, 22 artists for pop ‘Annunciations’

(ANSA) – PRATO, DECEMBER 09 – The one proposed by the Palazzo Pretorio di Prato, which hosts the exhibition ‘Hi Woman’, scheduled from 11 December to 27 February, is a singular intertwining of “announcements”, which offers works by 22 international contemporary artists in dialogue with the historicized ones of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance of the permanent collection of the Prato museum.

The focus of the exhibition, presented this morning in Prato, is the gaze through which art observes women and describes them over time. Thus, the granite and graceful announcements of Filippo Lippi, present in the museum, contrast with the fragility of the pictorial and photographic productions and the sounds of the various artists involved, each with its own announcement to be revealed. subtitle “The news of the future” was edited by Francesco Bonami and promoted by the Municipality of Prato. “Once again – explained Matteo Biffoni, mayor of Prato – Palazzo Pretorio offers a new look at its artistic heritage, also stimulating a deep reflection on the female world”.

“Hi Woman!” it is the ‘aggressive’ greeting that the Archangel Gabriel addresses to the Madonna. The exhibition presents itself as the Pop transformation of this debut, projected into the contemporary world. Not an exhibition on women, feminism or politically correct. “Their views are all of a different nature, their art all conjugated in different and not necessarily feminine ways” explains Francesco Bonami, curator of the exhibition. “The museum questions the theme of dialogue between the many possible contemporaries, between past and present”, explains Rita Iacopino, director of Palazzo Pretorio.
