‘We the Future’, Obey’s works on show in Sarzana

(ANSA) – LA SPEZIA, 10 DEC – Sarzana chooses Obey, aka Shepard Fairey, as a leading exhibition proposal for the winter.

Obey is the American artist who, in 2008, created the famous four-color portrait of Barack Obama, soon after the first African American president of the United States of America, and who has since become the focus on civil rights struggles globally. .

Easy to understand for the general public, because he is the creator of iconographic and evocative images, but never superficial”, explains Pietro Folena of MetaMorfosi, who produces ‘Obey – We the Future’. A thematic journey through gender equality, environmental impulses, peace and culture in general: faces of people who try to change the world, which Obey elevates to icons. “Thanks to a liquid language that captures not only generational requests – explains the curator Gianluca Marziani -. In fact, it is liked by antagonistic circles, by young people, by skaters, but also by adult collecting and is cited by political leaders as by Nobel prizes for the ‘economy”. In the last room an opera signed by the singer Manu Chao during his visit to Sarzana.
