Books: Annarosa Mattei, Night dream in Rome

(ANSA) – ROME, DEC 15 – ANNAROSA MATTEI, NIGHT DREAM IN ROME 1871-2021 (La Lepre Edizioni, pp. 368, euro 20). It is the evocative and visionary portrait of a beautiful and poignant city, however unique in the world, loved by artists and intellectuals, always celebrated but never fully understood what Annarosa Mattei offers in the book “Night dream in Rome (1871-2021) “, in the bookshop with La Lepre Edizioni. Through dialogues and digressions, the book aims to lead the reader to the discovery of the traumas suffered by the city, proclaimed capital of the Kingdom of Italy in 1871, through a nocturnal reconnaissance of the places most devastated by the demolitions and renovations carried out starting from that fatal year (such as the demolition of a huge area around the Campidoglio of incomparable historical and artistic value, including most of the oldest districts, such as Campitelli, Pigna, Trevi, Monti). The author continues her narration to reveal the wounded soul of the city through five characters, not all human, on a journey in the heart of Rome, outside of real time, along a path that starts from Piazza Venezia and returns, after a wide tour, in via dei Fori Imperiali.
