Josè Carreras returns to Verona for the New Year’s Eve Gala

(ANSA) – VERONA, DEC 27 – After 22 years from his last presence on the billboards of the Arena di Verona Foundation, Josè Carreras returns to the Philharmonic Theater for the concert on December 31st (at 8.30 pm). The young emerging Karen Gardeazabal and Federica Vitali will perform together with the celebrated tenor, conducted by David Giménez, conducting the Orchestra and Choir of the Foundation and the A.Li.Ve.

After having trodden the most important stages in the world and having been the protagonist with Luciano Pavarotti and Plácido Domingo, in the name of “Three Tenors” since 1990 with concerts, albums and tens of millions of copies sold, Carreras returns to perform for the Arena Foundation. At the Arena di Verona, the 75-year-old Catalan artist was the protagonist of memorable productions by Carmen, Andrea Chénier and gala concerts until 1999. After a twenty-two-year interlude, he now returns to Verona for the New Year’s Eve concert: the program alternates songs opera, zarzuela and operetta with pieces, arias and duets from Il Pipistrello, La Vedova allegra, Giuditta, Lakmè, Las Hijas del Zebedeo, passing through film music, traditional Christmas pages and famous Neapolitan songs from Grieg, Šostakovič, Leigh , Valls, Gardel, Valente, Cardillo.
