Faced with the fourth wave of coronavirus which is announced in the fall, the honorary president of the Federation of Doctors of France Jean-Paul Hamon insists: “get vaccinated!” And, in this period when this weapon against the virus is so important, the increase in the price of Pfizer and Moderna vaccines makes him particularly angry. “It shocks me,” he alarmed himself at the microphone of Europe 1 on Tuesday evening.
“It is really purely scandalous”, is irritated Jean-Paul Hamon on Europe 1. Sunday, the Financial Times revealed that the laboratories producing the messenger RNA vaccines increased the price of a dose of their product. The Pfizer thus goes from 15.50 to 19.50 euros and Moderna from 19.50 to 21.50 euros. “These are companies that have been largely helped to develop their products,” adds the doctor who says he is “shocked” by this announcement.
The whole world is, in fact, suspended from vaccines to fight the Delta variant which multiplies extremely quickly. “The population is prisoners, the market is ready,” laments this general practitioner.
“The population is trapped, the market is ready”
For Jean-Paul Hamon, the situation is even more serious. This price increase could even “give arguments to people who march against vaccination”. “We see that there are movements all over Europe, in Germany and in France. And sincerely, this is a very bad signal,” he continues.
For its part, the government justifies this increase by the fact that the contracts are more and more binding. “There is no justification for an increase of 25%. They have investments which are largely profitable”, retorts Jean-Paul Hamon
