a super fan of Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) disbursed 777 ETH ($1.5 million) into a non-fungible token (NFT) from the collection this Tuesday (16).
Vis.eth, who describes himself as an investor on his Twitter page, added the Bored Ape Yacht Club #5383 for BAYC’s vast in-house collection, divided into two portfolios.
The former owner of NFT managed to make a profit of 682 ETH ($1.2 million) from the sale, after buying BAYC on August 1, 2021 for $242,000.
The million-dollar sale takes place despite current market conditions for NFTswhose trading volume has dropped significantly in the main marketplaces in recent months.
Vis.eth told the Bored Ape Gazette – which has covered some of the buyer’s previous big purchases – that he bought the NFT because he wanted to “have a golden monkey”, referring to the coat color of the NFT.
Solid golden fur is considered a rare item among the Bored Ape Yacht Club and, according to the CryptoSlam website, #5383 is the 285th rarest NFT in the 10,000-item collection.
Over the past few months, Vis.eth has spent millions of dollars on Otherdeeds – NFTs of virtual lands that are part of the future Otherside metaverse project by Yuga Labs, the same creator of BAYC.
The buyer’s two wallets have more than 60 NFTs of virtual lands – including more than a dozen that are home to Kodas, mysterious Otherside avatars about which little is known.

Although US$ 1.5 million is a high value in the NFTs currently, it doesn’t come close to breaking a collection record.
Among the most expensive sales of Bored Ape Yacht Club already made is BAYC #8817, sold at a Sotheby’s auction for $3.4 million in October 2021. In the same month, another rare Ape, #8585, sold for $2.7 million – equivalent to 696,969 ETH at the time.
Generally, NFTs in Bored Ape Yacht Club are sold at much lower prices. The CryptoSlam website indicates that the average sale price for BAYC NFTs is $115K in the last week, with a minimum price of 78.5 ETH.
