Tarcísio in SP; Castro in Rio and Zema in MG: Check out the 27 governors who take office this Sunday

governors of the 27 units of the federation take office this Sunday (1st), with 18 representatives assuming a second term. Among them were re-elected Claudio Castroin the state of Rio de Janeiro, and Romeu Zemain Minas Gerais.

Both have already participated in the inauguration ceremony this morning. In addition to them, they have also been sworn in Tarcisio de Freitaselected governor of the state of São Paulo, and Eduardo Leitein Rio Grande do Sul.

The ceremony in Bahia started even earlier, around 8am, when Jerônimo Rodrigues (PT) took office as governor. Still in the Northeast, PT Elmano Freitas also took office as governor of Ceará.

Other elected governors in the region have also taken office, as they must attend the formal session that will inaugurate Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) as president. This is the case of the governor of Piauí, Rafael Fonteles (PT) and João Azevêdo, of Paraíba.

Governors anticipate taking office to go to Brasília (or not)

State ceremonies follow specific rites and there are no standard times. However, the expectation is that the governors will take office by the end of the morning, since some must participate in the solemn session of the president-elect Lula.

Lula’s inauguration ceremony is scheduled for 3 pm, at the National Congress. At this time, however, Renato Casagrandein the Holy Spirit, and Raquel Lyrain Pernambuco, assume the position of governor of the respective elected states.

Even those who took office in the morning should not go to Brasília. This is the case of Tarcísio and Zema.

On the other hand, the governor-elect of Goiás, Ronaldo Caiado, will not be present at the inauguration itself. He will take office via videoconference, as he is recovering from heart surgery.
