The recent devaluations of chicken meat did not prevent the advance of the monthly average for protein. According to collaborators from the Center for Advanced Studies in Applied Economics (Cepea), the slight improvement in demand in the first half of the month ensured an increase in average prices in March.
Wholesale in Greater São Paulo, whole frozen chicken registers an average of R$ 6.78/kg in this partial period from March to the 29th, an increase of 1.9% compared to February. The chilled product, in turn, has been sold in the São Paulo region at an average price of R$ 6.75/kg in March, an increase of 1.7% compared to the previous month.
In the cuts market, the frozen breast was the one that most appreciated in March in the wholesale of Greater São Paulo, 6.4%, with the kilo of the product quoted, on average, at R$ 8.31 this month.
In the partial of March, on the other hand, the prices of the fat cattle recovered and advanced more than 10%.
