The Executive Presidents of the Cogna (Cogn3), Roberto Valério, and the YDUQS (YDUQ3), Eduardo Parente, praised on Wednesday the new Regulatory Framework for Distance Learning (EAD), assessing that the new rules bring alignment in pedagogical formats, although they should also mean higher costs.

Nevertheless, in the stock market, the actions fell hard. Between the last session and today, the cogna lost more than 10% of its value. YDUQS dropped 8% between the maximum and the minimum of the week.

Among the news of the decree signed by the President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva This week is the veto for the offer of distance learning courses in the areas of Law, Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing and Psychology.

The new policy also creates the semi -presential format and reduces the limit of the use of distance learning in face -to -face courses to 30%.

“I have a very positive view of the new regulatory framework… it brings aspects that are positive in the sense of alignment,” said Valério, during online participation in a seminar on the theme promoted by the Union of Entities maintaining higher education establishments in Rio de Janeiro (Semerj).

He pointed out that, with slightly clearer definitions, the new landmark reduces the possibility of building very different pedagogical formats, as seen today in the market.

Also present at the event, Parente was another to praise the new milestone, highlighting the relevance of EAD for the democratization of education and emphasizing the need for this inclusion to occur with quality, with regulation being an important step in this sense.

He said the new rules will “cost money,” but said the commitment is to make technological ways of absorbing and not passing it to the student. “Obviously a number of things you will have to adapt, half of it we already do and we want everyone to do it too,” added the executive president of YDUQS.

Both CEOs also highlighted the importance of the two -year period for adaptation to the new regulation.

“This transition period is very important,” said Valério.

He said that Cogna Health Courses today have 40% of presence, not far from the new regulation advocates (30%). “It will be relatively easy for us to adjust. But I understand that other institutions need this time so they can rethink their model,” he added.
