Petrobras (PETR4) obtained authorization from the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) to start the operation of the Alexandre de Gusmão FPSO platform in the Mero Field in the Santos Basin pre-salt, said the municipality in a statement on Thursday.
The unit, ran by Petrobras of the company SBM Offshore, has the capacity to produce up to 180,000 barrels of oil per day (BPD) and process up to 12 million cubic meters of gas.
“The process of authorization by ANP provides for the approval of operational safety aspects and production measurement systems,” the regulator said in a statement.
Currently, the pioneering FPS of Libra, Guanabara, Sepetiba and Marshal Duque de Caxias is already in operation, adding productive capacity above 590 thousand BPD.
Marshal Duque de Caxias reached the top of production, also with 180,000 barrels of oil per day (BPD), after operating in October last year, according to the oil company earlier.
Petrobras president Magda Chambriard, said last week that the FPSO Alexandre de Gusmão should go into operation between the second and third quarter of this year.
Sought, Petrobras did not immediately respond to requests for comments.
Mere is a field operated by Petrobras, with 38.6%participation, in partnership with Shell Brasil (19.3%), Totalenergies (19.3%), CNPC (9.65%), CNOOC (9.65%) and Petroleum SA (PPSA) (3.5%), as a contract manager and union representative in the union area.
