In Lviv, in the event of an evacuation from Kiev against the backdrop of a possible Russian invasion of Ukraine, half of the town hall will be given over to administrative state buildings.

Lviv Mayor Andrey Sadovoy said this in an interview with the BBC.

“There are clear protocols”

Answering a journalist’s question whether he is ready, if necessary, to accept and accommodate central authorities in Lviv, Andriy Sadovoy noted that there are clear protocols for “various difficult situations.”

“We are ready to help everyone. But we must do everything possible to avoid aggression. I am not going to leave the town hall, but if half of the town hall needs to be given over to administrative state buildings, we are ready,” he said.

In addition, the mayor of Lviv answered the question of whether he was ready to give half of his office to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky:

“I am ready to give to everyone who will need it. I emphasize once again: it is better not to allow this.”

Evacuation from Ukraine

Reuters reported that the World Bank is temporarily relocating its staff from Ukraine and suspending staff travel to our country.

“This is due to tensions on the border between Russia and Ukraine,” says an internal memo obtained by Reuters.

As of February 13, due to fears of a military conflict, 33 countries recommended that their citizens leave the territory of Ukraine, as well as refrain from traveling to our country.

Threat from Russia

The Russian Federation has concentrated more than 100,000 troops on the border with Ukraine. Experts predict that the escalation of the situation in Ukraine may occur in February, approximately in the 20th.

NATO plans to increase its military presence in the Baltic countries and Poland in case Russia leaves its troops in Belarus after the planned military exercises.

In turn, Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said that Ukraine would be able to talk about de-escalation of the situation when Russia withdraws all its troops from the border of Ukraine and from the temporarily occupied territories.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg invited Russia to a new dialogue in the format of the NATO-Russia Council in order to find ways for a diplomatic way out of the security crisis caused by the actions of the Kremlin.

Recall that the Japanese Foreign Ministry announced the recall of almost all diplomats from Ukraine. In addition, the Foreign Ministry urges the citizens of Japan who are in Ukraine to immediately leave the country.
