Carnival: 145 thousand visitors over the weekend in Venice

(ANSA) – VENICE, 20 FEB – The second weekend of Carnival in Venice ends with 145 thousand visitors in the historic city, 75 thousand on Sunday alone. Compared to Saturday, the number of tourists coming from the cities of Veneto, who traditionally prefer Sunday, has increased: they were 21 thousand compared to 8 thousand yesterday.

There was no shortage of guests from outside the region (about 20 thousand) and above all foreign citizens, 34 thousand. According to the analysis of the telephone cells elaborated in the Smart Control Room of the Municipality, at Tronchetto, attendance was recorded from hundreds of nations; most of the foreign tourists came from France (21%), Spain (13%), Great Britain (12%) and Germany (10%). In the historic center, from Piazza San Marco, to Riva degli Schiavoni, and in the streets, beautiful and scenographic masks have been revisited this year, to the delight of photographers and selfie hunters (ANSA).
