(by Marco Maffettone) (ANSA) – ROME, MARCH 09 – For the investigators this is a demonstrative gesture. An action carried out in the middle of the night by hands, at the moment, unknown. A large firecracker was thrown into the garden of the Belarusian embassy in Rome. A sort of “paper bomb” was thrown over the boundary wall of the diplomatic headquarters in via delle Alpi Apuane, in the Montesacro area. The roar was heard throughout the area but fortunately did not cause any damage. The embassy staff immediately alerted the police who went to carry out the surveys.
The Prosecutor’s Office was also informed of the affair, which is awaiting a first report from Digos to proceed with the formal opening of an investigation file. At the moment in piazzale Clodio it is excluded that the proceeding could end up in the attention of the anti-terrorism magistrates even if the gesture is most likely linked to the conflict in Ukraine also in light of the position taken by the Belarusian regime which is, in fact, supporting Moscow in military activity.
