(ANSA) – VENICE, MARCH 24 – Spectacular nautical accident this afternoon, fortunately without injuries, in a canal in the historic center of Venice. The incident took place in the Rio de la Veste, behind the La Fenice theater. A work boat that was moored near a low wall, near a construction site, capsized while a machine was being lifted. When it overturned towards the canal, probably due to the excess weight of the structure, it overwhelmed another small boat, with no one on board, sinking it. The river where the accident occurred was closed to navigation. and in the same way the pedestrian transit in the nearby calli has been temporarily blocked. On the spot, rescuers are trying to straighten the boat, which however is spilling diesel into the canal. (HANDLE).
