Cesira Pardini died at the age of 96, who survived the Nazi-fascist massacre of Sant’Anna di Stazzema (Lucca), gold medal for civil merit for having rescued two of his little sisters, Adele and Lilia, and another child on that 12th August 1944. In the massacre, which cost the lives of 560 people, the mother and two other sisters of Pardini, Maria, and Anna died, the latter being the smallest victim of the massacre: she was about twenty days old. The mayor of Stazzema Maurizio Verona gave the news of the disappearance.
“I learned the news of the disappearance of another survivor of the Sant’Anna di Stazzema massacre”, writes the mayor on Fb: “A warm hug to his family, and a huge thank you to Cesira for being a peace ambassador and Memory “.
Cesira Pardini was 18 when the massacre took place. Testifying at the trial in Spezia before the military tribunal for the massacre, he said: “My mother was against the wall, with” Anna “in her arms. Have pity on this creature at least, she shouted. That one, was an Italian, took out the revolver and he pointed it at her head. Mom just had time to tell us to save us, to escape. The door at the back opened. I took the Adele, the Lilia, I threw in the Maria, who was all in pieces. Her arm was falling off, her leg was off. They kept strafing from all sides, and we stood still, in silence … “.
“I would like to express my condolences for the disappearance of Cesira Pardini. Another piece of history and memory that she leaves us, not without having dedicated her life to preserving the memory of the 560 massacred people. To her and to all those who commit themselves to remembering the atrocities committed in our country, my thanks go to us for urging us never to underestimate all forms of intolerance, hatred and prevarication “. This was declared by the Undersecretary of State for Relations with Parliament Deborah Bergamini.
