(ANSA) – ROME, APRIL 01 – Effects of war and expensive energy weigh on the consumption of Italians in culture and tourism: the first alarming figure – according to the Confcommercio note on the basis of Radar Swg data and the March Confturismo Observatory – it is registered for Easter, with almost 8 million Italians intending to leave, of which only 4 million have already concretely planned.

The travel choices also show how critical the situation is: short and short-term journeys within the region of residence for half of the vacationers; probably only one overnight stay and spending in the order of 200 euros per person all inclusive, while only 6% will opt for foreign destinations, against 13% in 2019.

It is not the types of destination – sea or mountain – that determine the choices in this period, but the reasons: first of all, the need to “relax with your family” or live an experience of “art and culture” , even just by visiting a city of art or a village.

Holidays in second homes are increasing, chosen this year by 5 out of 10 Italians (they were 40% in 2019), consequently the other half will choose a tourist accommodation facility. For spending, 4 out of 10 respondents declare that they will remain at the levels of last year, while 2 out of 10 will even spend between 10% and 25% less.

Even in view of the summer, there can only be concern, considering that 8 out of 10 respondents declare that they will either give up traveling or reduce the days and expenses of their holidays. In cultural consumption, on the other hand, renunciation tout court clearly prevails, while for catering and entertainment the prevailing choice is to reduce the number of purchase opportunities.
