Covid: infections in ER are growing, but much fewer hospitalizations

(ANSA) – BOLOGNA, APRIL 12 – In Emlia-Romagna, there has been an increase in Covid cases in recent weeks, especially in the Romagna area: the peak is higher than in April last year, but lower compared to last January. However, hospitalizations are much lower. This is the state of the Coronavirus emergency in the region, outlined by the junta in a report to the health commission of the regional council.

The age group most affected is the one that goes from 11 to 13 years (the maternal group is the least affected), the situation of the elderly under control (also due to the high percentage of vaccinated). With Omicron there are fewer hospitalizations and even fewer intensive care hospitalizations.

The vaccinated Emilia-Romagna population reached 90 percent (10 percent of unvaccinated people had the greatest impact on hospital admissions, even in intensive care). The fourth dose, for frail people, will affect about half a million people. (HANDLE).
