(ANSA) – ROME, APRIL 22 – A Ukrainian refugee woman who runs away with her child from the war and brings with her a Syrian refugee and an African girl: it is the new work of street artist Laika, created on the night between 21 and 22 April and posted in Przemyśl, a Polish city on the border with Ukraine, one of the symbolic places of welcoming a country which, however, presents enormous contradictions from a humanitarian point of view. It is called “Come with me – all refugees welcome” and is dedicated, explains the artist, “to Andrea Costa, of Baobab Experience, and to all those on trial for saving lives”.
“I have not posted this work – explains the author in a note – to create sterile controversy. Every poster posted in border areas, such as the Bosnian one, is an appeal. I address it to European institutions and individual governments: those who flee from a conflict, from misery, natural disasters and violations of human rights has the same right to be welcomed and progressively inserted into society.
We are capable, now we have the proof. We apply a fundamental principle, that of equality “. (ANSA).
