(ANSA) – COSENZA, 25 MAY – About fifty controlled activities in the Calabrian Ionian belt, between the provinces of Cosenza, Catanzaro and Crotone, and a dozen entrepreneurs denounced for various reasons for environmental crimes, illegal spillage of solid and liquid waste and offenses relating to building infringement. It is the balance of the activity of the Carabinieri and Forestry Carabinieri along the territories that extend from Rocca Imperiale to the Crotone area.
In particular, entrepreneurial activities such as car washes, cement factories, dairies, livestock and agricultural companies that would have discharged wastewater discharges into the sea or rivers were sifted. The sampling carried out will give feedback in the coming days in terms of the quality of the rivers’ waters. Also some areas used for the construction of illegal landfills were subject to seizure.
“We have decided to work in a preventive manner – said Colonel Gabriele Mambor, provincial commander of the Crotone Carabinieri – because the summer season is starting and the sea is good for everyone and creating landfills on river basins cannot go unpunished”. “The control and our activity – added Mambor – does not end here because our goal is to protect the territory, the environment and production activities”.
