They asked for “pizzo” 50 thousand euros from shops in the Rome shopping center

(ANSA) – ROME, JUN 10 – For the renewal of the rental contract for some shops in the Euroma2 shopping center, one of the largest in the capital, they asked the owners for a sort of ‘lace’ that could reach up to 50 thousand euros. For this reason, the Economic-Financial Police Unit of the Guardia di Finanza, coordinated by the deputy prosecutor Giovanni Conzo, carried out three disqualification measures lasting one year against subjects accused of extortion. The financiers also proceeded to a preventive seizure of assets for about 2 million euros. Ownership of the shopping arcade is completely unrelated to the facts.

The investigations started with the complaint of an entrepreneur and the financiers “acquired serious circumstantial elements on extortion requests for the renewal of leases, received by some operators who managed commercial businesses in a gallery. Requests arrived from subjects who, at the time of the events, they were the manager and employees of companies appointed by the owner of the center to manage the rent of the commercial premises of the structure “, stated in a note from the GDF. During the checks, one of the suspects was stopped on leaving the home of an entrepreneur, and was found in possession of over 49,000 euros in cash, which were seized. (HANDLE).
