(ANSA) – IMPERIA, 29 JUN – The interrogation of Gaetano Speranza ended at 11.30 last night, heard by the deputy prosecutor of Imperia Barbara Bresci immediately after her brother Vincenzo, owner of the company Edilcantieri Costruzioni Srl. he spoke for nine hours, never stopping, while Gaetano needed four and a half hours to give his version of the facts. Both were arrested between the end of May and the beginning of June for corruption and abuse of office in competition for an alleged round of bribes that the entrepreneur, with the help of his brother, would have handed out to the former mayor of Aurigo and provincial councilor Luigino Dellerba to be awarded public works in exchange.
The minutes of the more than thirteen hours of interrogation were secreted. Until the end of the investigation it will therefore be impossible to know what the two Speranza have revealed to the magistrate. “We are satisfied. Our clients have clarified their position”, said lawyers Roberto Trevia and Alessandro Moroni, lawyers of the two brothers. The last to leave the courthouse, shortly before midnight was the prosecutor Barbara Bresci, accompanied by captain Vincenzo Spataro, commander of the Investigative Unit of the Carabinieri of Imperia who carried out investigations and arrests. Vincenzo Speranza has been detained in the Sanremo prison since last May 30th. That day the carabinieri had arrested him in the act of crime together with the then mayor of Aurigo and provincial councilor Luigino Dellerba. For his brother, a former carabiniere on leave, the handcuffs were released a few days later: not having been arrested red-handed, Gaetano Speranza is under house arrest.
