(ANSA) – AOSTA, 02 JUL – A hiker died on the Valle d’Aosta side of the Gran San Bernardo pass, on the border with Switzerland. Her body was recovered this morning by the Aosta Valley Mountain Rescue. It could be a Swiss citizen but the identification operations have yet to be carried out.

According to an initial reconstruction, yesterday evening, Friday, she herself had given the alarm to the staff of the hospice of the Gran San Bernardo (Switzerland), explaining that she had fallen and had had a problem in her leg. Since then it has not been possible to contact her.

The indication was forwarded to the Swiss rescue which, in turn, being a border area, reported the event to the Italian rescue. The Aosta Valley helicopter was engaged in two other operations. The Swiss rescue then took charge of the intervention and carried out searches with two helicopters, one of which was equipped with a thermal, and with ground crews. Operations were suspended at 2.30 am and resumed at dawn on both sides.

The body was brought to Aosta for the recognition and judicial police operations, entrusted to the Alpine Rescue of the Entrèves financial police. (HANDLE).
