(ANSA) – TRIESTE, 02 JUL – “There was a puddle of water, a little dirty but I drank it”. Thus Gianpaolo Baggio, the Friulian hiker managed to survive for seven days in the gully where he had fallen. Tried, very thin because he has practically never eaten, but calm and safe, he told reporters that the real problem “was the night: it was cold, so I covered myself with dry leaves”. In fact, the man was wearing only a t-shirt and a pair of shorts at the time of the accident. Slipping from the via ferrata, the man lost his backpack with his mobile phone inside. Miraculously, during the day he didn’t suffer too much from the heat: “I was in a place that was a bit dim.” More than anything else, however, it was experience and confidence that helped him: “I never lost my patience” and therefore his head; “I have never been afraid nor have I lost hope that someone will find me”, he concluded.
