(ANSA) – ROCCASTRADA (GROSSETO), 09 JUL – A forest fire has developed in the Terzo area, in the municipality of Roccastrada (Grosseto) in Maremma. The flames that started from the provincial road near a house quickly spread to the land planted with olive trees and vineyards, eventually affecting a Mediterranean scrub forest. The provincial operations room immediately sent firefighting volunteer teams and forestry workers.
Given the difficulty given by the strong north wind that widens the flame front, explains a note, two helicopters were sent which with their releases try to limit their propagation to further wooded areas and some houses in the area manned by firefighters . At the moment there is no wind attenuation, which is why other volunteer firefighting teams are being prepared to put out the fire. (HANDLE).
