(ANSA) – FLORENCE, 12 JUL – Delivery ceremony of the Golden Pegasus, this morning in Florence, to the State Police for the 170th anniversary of the foundation which dates back to 1852. The recognition, the highest honor of the Tuscany Region, delivered by President Eugenio Giani, within the framework of the Santissima Annunziata Education, was established by the regional council in 1993 to report Italian citizens or citizens of other countries, who have rendered a service to the national and international community through their work in the cultural, political, philanthropic and respect for human rights.

Guest of honor for the occasion, the Chief of Police, Prefect Lamberto Giannini. In the evening the celebrations will continue: at 9 pm the concert of the State Police band is scheduled. “The State Police – said Giani – always maintains a profile of absolute authority in guaranteeing public safety”. The mayor of Florence Dario Nardella thanked “the women and men in uniform who do a very precious job”.

“The Pegaso d’Oro – said Lamberto Giannini – is important and recognizes the work of the police over the time it is close to the citizen. Tuscany is an important territory that has seen the succession of extraordinary events over the years, sometimes calamitous, other times beautiful: it is really nice that citizens and institutions have wanted to honor us with this award “.
