New investigations for the missing Barbara Corvi case

(ANSA) – TERNI, 14 JUL – The investigation into Roberto Lo Giudice continues, accused of the voluntary murder of his wife Barbara Corvi, who disappeared from Amelia on 27 October 2009 and of whom there has been no news since. This was decided by the investigating judge of Terni who ordered new investigations. In particular, the “search for any blood traces in the car in use at the time” by Lo Giudice, an SUV, “using new detection techniques such as the Luminol”.

The investigating judge thus accepted the request to continue the investigations made by the Public Prosecutor of Terni.

In recent weeks, the head of the office Alberto Liguori had asked to close the file but the woman’s family members with the lawyers Giulio Vasaturo and Enza Rando had opposed the request. Hence the setting of the hearing which was held on 7 July and during which the magistrate revoked his initial request.

The investigating judge indicated a “peremptory term” of six months for the new investigations. Among these, the acquisition of seven testimonies.

Following the investigation by the Terni Public Prosecutor’s Office, Lo Giudice was arrested on 30 March 2021 and returned free on the following 22 April when the Review Court had annulled the precautionary custody order in prison ordered by the investigating judge. The magistrates then challenged the decision of the Supreme Court which in October last year rejected their appeal.

The Judge has always proclaimed himself unrelated to the disappearance of his wife and his defenders have asked to dismiss the proceedings.

The investigating judge has instead filed the position of Maurizio Lo Giudice, the woman’s brother-in-law. (HANDLE).
