(ANSA) – BARI, 14 JUL – A vast fire broke out in the afternoon in Castel del Monte (Andria), burning up to this moment about sixty of the wooded area near the Frederick’s castle. The Castle was evacuated and closed and the tourists who were inside removed and made safe.
An evacuation plan has also been prepared for some private villas located close to the area. The flames broke out around 4pm. About sixty units are at work from the ground, including firefighters from Arif, the regional agency for irrigation and forestry activities, firefighters, forest police and civil protection volunteers. A fireboss from Grottaglie, a canadair from Ciampino and a Drago fire brigade aircraft are carrying out water launches. (HANDLE).
