(ANSA) – VENICE, 19 JUL – Veneto has experienced today what is so far the hottest day of the year, with highs of 36 degrees recorded in Fossalta di Portogruaro (Venice) and Castelfranco (Treviso) In many other cities and centers lower than the central band, the thermometers reached 34-35 degrees.
Despite the heat wave, however, no record has been broken for the month of July, even if the peak of the heat is expected for the weekend. Hot climate in the mountains, with 27 degrees in Cortina, and 11 above zero at 3,200 meters at Punta Rocca, on the Marmolada, where the disastrous detachment of the glacier serac took place on 3 July.
As always, physical discomfort was felt more in the cities, due to the ‘heat islands’. In the early afternoon the historical centers appeared semi-deserted everywhere.
The only consolation is the still bearable night lows, with values that last night were around 20 degrees.
